HARMONY VOICES
Are you new in Australia?
Do you want to improve your English?
Are you curious about theatre or creative expression?
This is for you!
Are you shy? No problem! Just come and join us!
Description
Harmony Voices is a free community-engaged creative program designed to build English literacy and fluency through theatre-making, storytelling, and song.
Facilitator Camila Tirado will lead a series of workshops with participants from multicultural (migrant) communities, culminating in a public performance at Bulmba-ja Arts Centre.
The project centres cultural knowledge, intergenerational participation, and creative expression as pathways to confidence, communication, and social connection.
- Practice every day English
- Meet new people
- Take part in storytelling and performance
To make it easy to attend, we offer:
- Free childcare (during the times of the workshops)
- Transport support (to and from Bulmba-ja Arts Centre)
- Language support (Centacare will assist)
- This project is specifically for new migrants and refugees, not for people on tourist, student or working holiday visas.
- Priority will be given to migrants who have arrived in the last three years, though any migrant may apply.
- This program is specifically to improve English skills for those have limited English skills (and even may need a translator to support).
- You may also be asked to do a short admission interview.
About your facilitator: Camila Tirado
Camila Tirado is a Chilean facilitator based in Australia, with a Master of Science in Organisational Psychology and a background in theatre. Her work integrates personal development, creativity, and community connection.
With training in improvisation, storytelling, and creative theatre practices, Camila uses theatre as a tool to support confidence, communication, and self-expression. As a migrant herself, she brings a deep understanding of the challenges and richness of living between cultures.
She is passionate about creating inclusive and supportive spaces where people from diverse backgrounds can connect, share their stories, and build confidence in English through play, creativity, and embodied experiences
