17 November 2012 - 18 November 2012JUTE Theatre Company is delighted to support the Playmoves Workshop by Anna Yen, open to performers, directors, movement and drama teachers.
This workshop is for performers (actors, musicians, circus, singers, dancers, physical theatre, clowns), directors, movement and drama teachers.
Anna Yen will focus on playfulness, presence, physical awareness, and ‘complicity’ with other performers. It combines the Awareness Through Movement work of the Feldenkrais Method with ensemble exercises and games in innovative ways to assist the performer expand their creative and physical possibilities, playfulness, presence and ensemble skills.
The weekend programme will include:

- Games to sharpen the performer’s sense of relation to self, the space and other performers
- Movement sequences from the Feldenkrais Method to expand physical awareness and movement possibilities and exploring awareness through movement.
- Performance exercises to explore what it means “to be present” and in “complicity” with other performers.
- Rhythm as a foundation for creative play
- A wonderful exercise in writing from the physical

Comfortable plain coloured clothes that allow students to move and stretch.Anna Yen is a movement teacher, performer, director and Feldenkrais Method ® Practitioner. Anna’s work spans theatre, contemporary circus, physical theatre, street theatre and film. Anna teaches in universities, communities, companies, festivals and schools. Anna received a Churchill Fellowship in 2002. A highlight of Anna’s work is her acclaimed one-woman show “Chinese Take Away” and its film adaptation, which has taken her to festivals around the world. She has trained regularly with renowned European theatre teacher, Monika Pagneux whose quest is to awaken the performer, inviting the attentive and joyful performing physical presence that marries risk with vulnerability and self-confidence with authenticity. PlayMoves has been run in Brisbane, Melbourne, Wollongong, Townsville, Hobart, Perth. Anna is keen to share Pagneux’s work and in doing so, deepen her research of how we as performers /creators can be more awake and present in the moment, ready to play and create.
