Two Weeks with a Dramaturg!

JUTE Theatre Company is leading a national program to develop Cultural Leaders. In this region JUTE has invested in the development of dramaturgically adept theatre makers for Far North Queensland.  The program is funded through the Australia Council Theatre Board, Cultural Leadership program and is about developing cultural leaders in theatre practice in 7 regional centres across Australia.

This project stretches across regional Australia, Northern Territory, regional Queensland, ACT and Tasmania with 7 regional companies being partner to the project.  The companies are:

  • Creative Regions, Bundaberg
  • Crossroad Arts, Mackay

  • The Street Theatre, Canberra
Northern Territory
  • Darwin Theatre Company, Darwin
Tasmania
  • Mudlark Theatre, Launceston

Each of these partner companies are in the process of developing cultural leaders in their own centres.  Peter Matheson, freelance dramaturg has been engaged to undertake the project and resides in each of these centres for 2 x 1 week residencies.  The outcome will see up to 14 dramaturgically adept cultural leaders in 7 regional centres.
