Offering 12 emerging directors a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in the directing craft.
Twelve emerging theatre directors participated in the inaugural JUTE Director Development program in 2011.
This program is part of JUTE’s Artistic Ignition Season that is designed to provide development opportunities for regional theatre makers to increase the cultural vibrancy of far north Queensland.
This one of a kind program offers emerging directors a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in the directing craft. JUTE is looked for directors that have a vision to contribute to the creative vibrancy and diversity of our region, with an ambition to bring something new to the theatre sector. The development program will form a case study for best practice delivery of professional development programs for regional theatre artists.
Participants have a golden opportunity to develop their skills with highly regarded contemporary theatre director and academic professor Dr David Fenton who delivered a series of Skype lectures, workshops and a one-week residency combining theory with the practical application of directing and creative leadership.
The project will be evaluated and the end of 2011 and, with funding, has the potential to continue in 2012.
