JUTE’s
annual open auditions in 2010 uncovered 5 young actors (20 – 30 yrs)
who are at the early-mid stages of their professional career. JUTE
could not ignore this gift of exciting young performers and have created
a program to get them developing and performing work. The Next G
program is also about getting them connected to the sector outside of
this region to broaden their career opportunities. The first stage is
to connect them with a performance writer who is gaining national and
international acclaim for their work. Then from the 9th till the 13th
of January 2011, we will put the writer and the 5 performers (the next
generation) in a room with a director and dramaturg and a range of
provocations, to develop a work around their unique perspectives. This
work will be produced in 2012 as part of the JUTE 2012 Celebrations
Program.
